China is wise, plans long term, and is rising remorselessly. The US, and the rest of its Empire (inc most def Japan) are in long term decline. China will wait, and when fully ripe, the fruit will fall into its lap. The US might be crazy enough to try and disrupt this process, but if it goes to war, it will take a terrible beating (one that no amount of media spin will be able to disguise); then it’s only choice will be to get busy managing its now accelerated decline, or escalate into self immolation - WW3.

I expect the strategic value of Taiwan to decrease once Western countries have caught up with Taiwan’s chip industry. This might take a decade or even longer, but it will happen at some point. In the long run I would expect China to get back Taiwan without the necessity for war.
