It’s almost comical when a newspaper like The Guardian ends each article with lines like:
“If you would rather the news you read was the result of decisions made by journalists and editors, not shareholders or ultra-wealthy tech bros, then, well, you know what to do: support The Guardian on a monthly basis.”
They clearly see the writing on the wall. Many readers no longer buy the act and increasingly recognize how often these outlets run planted stories from the UK government, padded with half-truths and Western propaganda. The question now is: how long can they keep this up? Twenty years? Ten? Or perhaps only five before their credibility—and readership—finally collapses?
They've had the begging bowl out for a few years since bringing in the paywall, pops us every page if you're not subscribed. Funny how you never hear the old slogan about perspective. The tagline since 2019 is, ‘Change is possible. Hope is power'. Something about holding power to account. More like blinding their readers to actual power and deflecting.
It is true that the “liberal” newspaper The Guardian is much more deceptive than, for example, The Telegraph, which also is full of shit, but does not wrap it up in gift wrapping like The Guardian does, so that you can smell it instantly.
